Title

MTP Bicycle/Pedestrian Element Update Study Recommendations

Gaby Lawlor, MPO Staff

Body

The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) conducted this study to complete a review and determine improvements for the bicycle and pedestrian element of the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) in advance of the 2055 MTP Update. The purpose of the project was to determine a better and more meaningful approach to documenting bicycle and pedestrian projects or corridors in the MTP, and to assist the MPO with producing a more meaningful dataset that will be more productive for member agencies to use for local planning and project implementation in service to a regional vision.

A technical steering committee, composed of CAMPO TCC representatives and other relevant technical staff from member jurisdictions, was formed to provide input and help guide the recommendations and final products completed through the study. The study concluded in June. MPO staff will provide an overview of work completed through the study and data processing tools that will be used for the 2055 MTP Update for the bicycle and pedestrian element.
