Title
CAMPO Staff Additions: Two Wake Transit Positions
Chris Lukasina, MPO Director
Body
As the Wake Transit planning and implementation has progressed, the MPO has taken on numerous additional responsibilities. In addition to staffing and administering the Transit Planning Advisory Committee (TPAC), the MPO is also charged with compiling the annual Wake Transit Work Plan, developing the multi-year capital and operating program for the work plan, and assisting with other planning efforts. The MPO is also anticipating a large role in the administration of the Community Funding Area Program, and the project-level concurrence process. In the draft Wake Transit Staffing Plan, which is still under development, initial recommendations are for the MPO to add two more positions beyond the recently-created TPAC Administrator position. One of these positions is a Wake Transit Program Manager, proposed to be added at the Transportation Supervisor level in the City of Raleigh position classification system. This position would be the MPO’s key point person for managing the MPO’s role in Wake Transit contracting, planning, prioritization, programming and implementation. The other position is an entry-level Transportation Planner position that would assist the Program Manager and TPAC Administrator with day-to-day work associated with Wake Transit efforts. This position would be classified as a Transportation Analyst position in the City of Raleigh position classification system. These positions are anticipated to be funded through Wake Transit funds through an amendment to the FY 2018 Wake Transit Work Plan.
