Federal Transportation Reauthorization Update

The Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act (IIJA) is set to expire at the end of Federal Fiscal Year 2026. The National Association of MPOs (AMPO) has joined with the National League of Cities, National Association of Counties, US Conference of Mayors, National Association of Development Organizations, and National Association of Regional Councils to form the Local Officials in Transportation (LOT) Coalition <https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/e4ce2c88c9c84cb3b674fd06aed5e8d6>. The LOT Coalition advocates for federal transportation policies that recognize the integral role that local communities play in our transportation networks. The LOT Coalition is working with MPOs and other organizations to build support for the Bridges and Safety Infrastructure for Community Success (BASICS) Act. Information on the BASICS Act is attached, along with a draft resolution of support for the bill. A representative from the National Associations of MPOs will join the meeting virtually to provide an update.
Requested Action: Action Recommend the Executive Board adopt the resolution of support for the BASICS Act.
