Title
Wake Transit Conference Committee Resolution
Ben Howell, CAMPO Staff
Body
The Wake Transit Conference Committee met on June 24, 2026 to consider a final resolution to the two outstanding Significant Concerns that were issued in 2024 regarding the inclusion of Vehicle Rental Tax (VRT) revenue in the Wake Transit Plan. At this meeting, the Wake Transit Conference Committee unanimously voted to resolve Significant Concern #2, relating to the long-term inclusion of the VRT revenue in the Wake Transit Plan and Financial Model, by directing the TPAC to recommend approval of a Wake Transit Plan Amendment to remove the VRT revenue from the Wake Transit Plan and Financial Model. The Amendment would then be considered by the Wake Transit Governing Boards, consisting of the CAMPO Executive Board and the GoTriangle Board of Trustees. This Amendment will be developed by CAMPO staff and presented to the TPAC and the Wake Transit Governing Boards prior to the release of the Recommended FY 2028 Wake Transit Work Plan in the spring of 2027.
The Conference Committee also unanimously voted to resolve Significant Concern #3 relating to the presentation of long-term financial projections for GoTriangle, which was presented to the Conference Committee at their meeting in March 2026.
Attached is a letter from the Wake County Board of Commissioners Chair Mial outlining the Conference Committee action at their meeting in June.
