Draft 2024-2033 TIP/STIP Update

CAMPO Staff will provide an update on the development of the draft 2024-2033 TIP/STIP. Additionally, the MTP/TIP subcommittee met on January 25, 2023, to review potential “swap” scenarios. NCDOT has requested all “swap” decisions be made by March 17, 2023. The subcommittee has forwarded a recommendation on two swaps. The first swap is at the Regional Impact level and would involve swapping U-5966 with U-5751. The second swap is at the Division Needs level and would involve swapping U-6193 with U-6117, U-6119, and TD-5307. Additional swaps are being considered by other MPOs, RPOs, and NCDOT Divisions. DCHC MPO is considering a project swap that could result in the Trinity Road grade separation remaining a committed project.
The subcommittee also recommended conveying continued support for the non-highway projects, especially those that might be delayed in the final TIP/STIP. The subcommittee also noted that any swap that resulted in delaying a project does not mean there is a lack of support for a project.
A summary of swaps being considered will be presented at the February TCC meeting. TCC consideration of a recommendation is anticipated at the March TCC meeting. After any swaps are completed, the draft TIP/STIP and any required MTP amendments will move forward for consideration and adoption.
