Use of Community Expenditures for Community Funding Area Local Match

A request was received from the Town of Wake Forest for the Executive Board to consider allowing the use of existing expenditures on public transportation service to qualify as necessary matching funds for new Community Funding Area Program (CFAP) applications. Before the establishment of the Wake Transit Plan and the CFAP, Wake Forest operated and continues to operate a fixed-route public transportation service. The majority of the funding supporting the service comes from the Town’s local budget. The Town has assumed that the CFAP would allow pre-existing budget contributions rather than new contributions to be used to provide the necessary local match for the CFAP.
Requested Action: Action Consider allowing existing local/community expenditures on public transportation service to qualify as necessary matching funds for new CFAP applications.
