The Triangle Regional Model team is collecting regional socio-economic data and transportation system characteristics to help inform the next iteration of the TRM. The collection of roadway features such as speed limits, number of lanes on a facility etc.…was completed using the Network Analyst tool during the Winter of 2019. This tool allowed TCC members and planning staff to provide the model team with transportation network information for their respective jurisdictions.

During the Spring of 2020, socio-economic data describing housing and land use patterns was collected using the CommunityViz platform. Employment data is currently being collected this Summer using a GIS based application similar to the Network Analyst tool. The employment dataset is the last of three datasets used to inform TRM and represents a snapshot of observed regional employment characteristics. The Employment Analyst tool facilitates the process of planning staff providing the model team with the number of employees and employer locations in the region as of Spring 2020 (pre COVID-19).  Two training sessions for the Employment Analyst tool were held on July 8^th and the 16^th and attendees received training on how to use the tool. The employment data collection process has a scheduled completion date of September 18^th, 2020.
