Title
Southeast Area Study Update - Final Phase
Gaby Lawlor, CAMPO Staff
Body
The original Southeast Area Study, which evaluated land use and transportation issues in the southeastern section of the MPO’s planning area, was completed in 2018. It covered parts of Wake and Johnston Counties, and the municipalities of Archer Lodge, Benson, Clayton, Four Oaks, Garner, Kenly, Micro, Raleigh, Selma, Smithfield, and Wilson’s Mills. The Study update includes the Town of Pine Level as well. The study was conducted in coordination with NCDOT and the Upper Coastal Plain RPO. The SEAS Update reviewed existing conditions of the study area and progress that has been made based on the recommendations that came out of the original SEAS, and revisit goals and priorities to refresh policies and practices and produce recommendations for land use and transportation. The recommendations that come out of the SEAS Update will inform the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP).
The final SEAS Update report is complete, and the plan is undergoing local and regional endorsement. The Executive Board is anticipated to consider endorsement of the SEAS update at its May 15, 2024 meeting.
The final report is included as an attachment. Supporting documents and report appendices can be found online here: https://southeaststudyupdate.com
